Betsy Hull, representative for the Corps of Engineers handed out charts and information to the Board members for review. The information included visitor count, water use, day use and overnight use at the Springy Point Recreation Area during the months of May-September. Also were the well reports from the Corps as well as clarification as to the use of the campground. The Corps does not charge for RV campers to use dump station. The washer and dryer is used only by the camp host and not the public. Public bathrooms have showers available for use at .25c per 5 minutes. The water is turned off during the winter months and the bathrooms are locked. The Corp also irrigates the road next to the fence for dust control. Campers are only allowed to stay for 14 days within a given 30 day period.
The Board thanked Betsy for her information and decided to review the figures to be able to decide just how much the Corps was using in conjunction with the District’s other commercial entities. Jim Haynes said he would review the figures and e-mail the Board and Betsy Hull with his findings.
