Water Service Restored - Instructions
Water service has been successfully restored to the area affected by the shut off west of 1735 Lakeshore Drive. However, a Boil Water Advisory remains in effect and you should flush your lines to clear out air.
Follow these steps to safely clear your plumbing lines:
1. Flush Your Lines (Cold Water Only)
- Open Taps Slowly: Turn on the cold water taps in your home, starting at the lowest level (like a basement or ground floor bathtub). Open them slowly to safely bleed out trapped air.
- Run for 5-10 Minutes: Let the cold water run until it stops sputtering. Do this for all cold water taps on every floor.
- Flush Toilets: Flush each toilet 1 to 2 times to clear the internal valves.
- Do NOT Run Hot Water: Keep hot water taps closed during this initial flush to prevent pulling sediment or untreated water into your water heater tank.
2. Follow Boil Water Mandatory Rules
Until this advisory is officially lifted, any water used for consumption must be brought to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute. Let it cool completely before using it for:
- Drinking or making ice
- Brushing teeth or washing hands
- Washing fruits, vegetables, or preparing food
- Mixing baby formula
- Providing water to pets
Note: Home water filters (like Brita pitchers or refrigerator filters) do not make the water safe to drink during a boil order. You must still boil the filtered water.
What to Do Next
We are actively testing the water system to ensure it meets health standards. We will issue a formal notification as soon as the boil water order is officially lifted.
Thank you for your patience.
